Illimac

beerdiertje_water_bear_sem_anp_1920x1080.jpgThough their origins are unknown, the Illimac can be found in almost every system in the subsector. They are naturally cunning and ruthless making them well suited to positions of power in the seediest of trades and organizations.

Illimac are entirely solitary creatures and all members are hermaphroditic. If one ever learns the location of another member of the species, it will ruthlessly seek out the individual and attempt to slay it. 1d5+1 days later, thousands of larvae spill from the loser’s corpse, consuming each other until fewer than a dozen bloated individuals remain. These survivors will seek shelter to molt and enter the pupal stage and eventually maturing into an adult, all the while attempting to flee as far and as fast as possible from its birthplace.

Though they posses no technology or language of their own, the Illimacs, much like the Ork, posses an innate grasp of both technology, language, and tactics, but the Illimac’s abilities seem to be more potent. Within minutes of encountering alien technology or language, an Illimac is able to piece together a rudimentary understanding of its basic functions and use. Within days, the individual is completely proficient, rivaling any native user. However, whether through lack of ability or patience, the Illimac seems incapable of ever mastering a craft.

Illimacs are skilled negotiators and are quick to strike a deal, though they are rarely above taking an underhanded approach to achieve their goals. If push comes to shove, an adult Illimac is a ferocious and resilient combatant and often posses a wide array of weaponry and a cadre of bodyguards, servants, and drugged combat servitors.

Physically, both juveniles and adults resemble segmented, clawed, thick limbed beetles with no visible eyes and multiple mouth like apertures. When they speak, sound emanates from all of them, so no single voice can be discerned.
